I am confused

Hi to all the folders out there. I am a little confused just now. I am running a Dell Dimension 4600 3 Gig with HT. I read through the forum that adding another instance will only give a 17% increase , but disabling HT should give more, so that is what I did...... and got no change. Frames that took 23 minutes before still take that time. Any idea why????

TIA

Ray

yeah, i have read things like that as well and i think its a bunch of bull. if you add another instance you will get between like 5% and 25% increase in total ppd of that machine. however, Stanford prefers that you only run 1 instance per physical core. so if your more for the science and dont care about points only run 1 instance. if you like points more then run 2, i dont see how disabling HT helps at all, tho.

My thinking was if you disable HT then you will be using more CPU cycles to do the work. Surely that should speed things up? It turns out it doesn't. Very strange.
