Somebody pull his plugs?

I know DSCHIEF had mentioned previously that his wife questioned his mental stability for running his Folding machines. Looks like she pulled all the plugs! He's dropped to second in the team PPD standings and has zero points for the day! Chief, you still out there?

I'm back, we were without power for 86 hrs.
We got hammered by the storm Sat.
the lights flickered then dimmed and a Transformer at the end of the block Blew out

If you've ever been next to an 18-wheeler thats blown a tire. You'll know the sound.

the few points trickling in are from one lonely client I'm running off-site.

We lost ALL of our frozen foods, yesterday I was tossing ground beef, Salmon & some Beef Roasts into the trash. I could'nt even give stuff away , every -body in the neighborhood was in the same boat.

I have'nt brought the Linux farm back online yet, I've got the DVD for Fedora 8
now so I'm going to bring them back up one at a time when I stabilize the new build.

I'll be back crushing the competition an a couple of days, so my pretties enjoy the reprieve while it lasts

Are you sure it didn't blow from all the power you are pulling to run your folding clients?

Looks like I'll be making your "overtake" time shorter very soon. I've been running 2 C2D desktops for the last month with 2 clients each. Those are scheduled to deliver on Sat, 1/26. Plus it looks like I have a sale for a used machine so that will drop me from 22 active cpu's to 17. Oh well, it was fun sitting atop the leader board while it lasted. The real satisfaction is knowing that all this money is hopefully helping to solve some of the mysteries of the diseases Stanford is researching.

You have a Core 2 Duo and run 2 clients? Is that two clients of the smp client?

If so, I didn't know you could do that.

No, it's just 2 regular clients. I'm only running the SMP on my Q6600 machine. I knew these two weren't going to be around long so I just used the standard clients.

You can run 2 SMP clients, you just have to start with a Quad. Each SMP client needs to ID at least 2 cores.

I ran 2 SMP clients for a couple of days on one of my Q6600's as an experiment to prove I could do it. The Wu's downloaded, processed and uploaded with no problems. I did notice slower than normal frame rates .

That would be fixed by adding 2 more memory sticks, so each Pair of cores would have 2 Gig
to work with.

And I would recommend only attempting it under Linux,

For more back ground , Google "TASKSET" & "CAP_SYS_NICE"

You need to give youself some Admin privliges to get it set up.
