Setting up F@H

I know I've asked this before, a few years back, but I can't seem to find it.

How do I set up folding on a Hyperthreading P4 running XP so it will run whenever the computer is on and regardless of which users are signed in or even if none are.

When you install the Text-only client, select the "install as a service" option. The service will run in the background regardless.

Thanks.

When I did this before, I think I remember something about it only using 50% CPU on this old P4 because of the hyperthreading.

Is there something else I need to set like in the advanced settings for it to use the 100% of the CPU?

Or am I getting something mixed up here? I havent tried it because I need some time to get at the computer.

Technically, you can put two instances on that computer. If you look under Task Manager / Processes, you can then select each instance and core to set their processor affinity (one pair set to zero, the other to one). That will allow HT to be utilized fully, but it has to be done manually every time the computer and programs are restarted.

That being said, the one instance will run faster by itself, and it will fully use the available processing power (even though it shows 50%).
