Setup SMP

Well, I just setup SMP on my C2D E4400. I just cranked out a 2144 point WU last night. Hopefully this will help the team out a bit more. If can get the money together I may build another dual or quad core this summer and I will definitely put SMP on it.

Nice.

I actually built a quad just to fold back in february.

I needed to catch everyone else.

It was really nice to get a big WU. I've been getting all 243 pointers. I was cruising along pretty well for a while and then my slump hit, maybe I can finally get back in the game.

How much did yours cost you? I'm looking at like $700 for a new one which isn't really an option. I was thinking I could either sell my current computer (which I built less than a year ago) or build another dual core.

This is what I got: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=193508

I had to make a few changes later on, but that was my own fault. I also only bought the monitor cause I needed it for something else.

Hmm...looks good. If I could keep it around $400 I would be happy. Then, of course, I have to decide if I make the Quad my main machine (with Folding) and use the Dual as just a folding machine. Ahh...the pressure!

How many computers do you have running Folding or SMP?

Only have 2 going.

I have this one, my main computer running my e6750, and then I have my folding computer with the q6600.

I have them both oc'd though.

Right now I have SMP running in an open command prompt window. Do you do the same, or have you tried to set it up as a service? I would kind of like to not have this window open all the time. Also, so you run two SMP instances on the quad core?

I've been considering selling my current E4400 and motherboard to a friend and then building two quad core computers. Or I may just sell him the E4400 and put a better dual core in this computer. Money is the biggest issue since I also have to fix up my truck this summer, but I should be able to set aside some cash for computers.

On my quad, I have two smp clients running in the terminal windows. But I never use that computer, so I don't mine.

On my main computer, my dual core, I have the terminal window open, and just minimize it, or leave it open. Sometimes I like to watch it work.

If you build another one, then I'll have to just to compete....darn it.

I can't watch the command prompt window, it's just to exciting for me.

Partay...

Maybe if we build more, then other people will want to keep up and our team will stop slipping down the ranks.

I would have built a few more already, but unfortunately, I need a job first.

I still have a few extra parts laying around the house too.....shouldn't cost much to build a new one...lol.

I have a bunch of stuff lying around too, but it is all AMD Socket A and Pentium II/III stuff, not very useful for folding.

I really want to get my school computers folding, but the IT people are crazy and would probably expel me for even mention the idea of running F@H on the school computers.
