PCM Folding Team slipping.

I've just started folding on my new rig and seen PCM slip a lot of places, we're already down to 105th. Has this been caused by Panama Red shutting down the farm?

Losing PR has had an effect, but we've been slipping for a while now.

Yeah, when I first started we were in the 70s and we've been dropping ever since. I'm planning on adding a few machines this summer, but that won't be enough. We really just need more active and consistent members.

Wow. I think we were like 92 0r 95 when I started.

If I ever get a job, I'll be building a few more rigs to help out.

I have started using my folding client less (and my computer in general) because my room gets so hot even if I don't have anything electrical running and if I have my PC on for 12 hours a day running at 100% CPU usage, its like a sauna.

Sorry to let you all down, fellas. My most recent electric bill is $70 compared to the previous month's $184 and I think my machines were folding for part of that $70 bill.

It's understandable.

I look at it like this: you're just letting the rest of us catch up a bit.

I've been thinking about shutting down a few of my less productive machines and just run the SMP machines. All those piddley 15 point units seems to be all I get on the older machines. I'm in the same boat as PR with the electric bill, about double with running 7 machines.

I have a bunch of older hardware that I could use, but it never does very well, just a few points here and there. It's probably just as efficient to lose the slower machines and just run SMP.

Unhappy

Sorry to say, but We're going to drop another 9K PPD starting this morning. I'm expecting Temps of 88 today, ramping up daily with 104 expected by Thurs & Fri. As each client uploads
today I will be shutting the boxes off. Production will be down to zero at least until Monday of next week.

My current rig can't handle high load very well for more than an hour or so. I'd like to get my new rig up and running F@H once I get my new rig (sometime towards the end of August). I'll probably have a quad core running at 4.0GHz (Q6700) and a HD4870 to use for F@H, might need some help setting up F@H, so I'll post back here once I get my new rig up and running.

Well, my server is finally installed in the comfort of some A/C, so I'll be contributing a bit more for a while. Not nearly what PR had going, but a little help.

Had to stop folding on the main home computer, because it was heating the living room up too much. Still have a couple running in the basement.

I'm in. Well im in as soon as I get home to set it up.

I'll have my new build helping out as much as it can. That's got a Q9300 with no overclock. Then I might boot up my old comp and add it in. Its got a 2.8ghz P4, i believe.

Anyone try the beta GPU folder yet? I just installed it and it is blowing thru this WU on my 8800 GTS. Should be interesting to see what it's point value is.

EDIT: I see it's only 98 points but it's blowing through so fast it could really rack up some big time points quick. I think it'll end up being about a half hour for this one. That means 4,800 ppd.

Is that the older gts or the newer one?

Are you also running another client with it that uses the cpu?

It's the GTS 512. I have a single client running on one core (E6600 @ 3.0GHz). I remember hearing the GPU client uses a core and that looks like the case.

EDIT: Decided to go ahead and kill the other one too - my computer was becoming choppy and its pretty insignificant compared the GPU.
