Question about Folding@Home
I have a dual core processor and decided to run two console clients. Each is in their own directory, (C:\FAH1 and C:\FAH2) and have machineID configured as 1 and 2, respectively. Each has their separate entry in services (Folding@home-CPU-[1] and Folding@home-CPU-[2]). Seems like everything should be fine.
When I go to look at advanced options, however, I notice the following message: If you are seeing the following message even though a service is not installed in this folder, you probably have conflicting machine IDs. Correct this and run this configuration again. I don't understand this message. Does something need fixing or is everything good to go?

One more note: I configured each of the clients using the "-local" tag, I.E. C:\FAH1\fah6.exe -local -configonly

Are you using SMP clients or the regular clients?

Install one, just one, console client.
The fact that you have a dual core doesn't mean that you can use two of them.

Not true, Pam - I'm using 2 regular console clients on my E8400 and all the other dual core rigs in the extended family. Then again, I'm using version 5 point something.

I used to run two 6.23 uni clients on my dual core fine, but a single SMP client was more productive.
BTW, do they actually both run?

Yes, they both run. I just don't know if they're conflicting or not

If you have conflicting machine ID's, one of the clients will not even start, and will error out with a pop up box. So I would say they are running fine. A good way to check is to see if they are working on different work units, if they are then all is good.

It looks like they're working on different WUs, judging from unitinfo.txt. Thanks for the heads up.
