Help with connection failure...?
Hey--I signed up for FAH and downloaded the software, but I can't seem to get a connection for a workload.
Here's the logfile: [20:17:52] - Ask before connecting: No [20:17:52] - User name: telegramsam (Team 13761) [20:17:52] - User ID: 60370B230FE1F8C2 [20:17:52] - Machine ID: 1 [20:17:52] [20:17:52] Loaded queue successfully. I don't know if this is my problem (security/firewall settings) or theirs. Can anyone tell me if I need to make an adjustment? I did try a restart and restarted the program itself. I couldn't find anything in advanced settings that seemed to have anything to do with a download error. Thanks

If you are using the GUI client, UNcheck "use Internet Explorer connection settings". I believe the text client has a similar item.

It is a CPU client, and it is the tray GUI app. 6.23 CPU Client
to GLC: I can't find anywhere to configure those settings. My router is not blocking port 80, but I have remote access shut off, which uses port 8080. Not sure if that blocks the port or just shuts the feature off in the router... I have since shut off Windows Firewall, tried a proxy on port 80, and changed my default browser back to IE7 from Chrome. I also uninstalled and reinstalled. All same results...I'm baffled. |

You can upload jpegs here as attachments, thats what I did.
My GUI client is 5.03. I'm using it on this old Win2K box, all the rest of my clients are console clients on dual cores on XP. |

I'm at home now--I'll upload the bmp or jpeg tomorrow.
I gotta think that the problem is with my network, but I use things like logmein and a business vpn, so I'm not sure where to go from there. Thanks guys. |

if you need port 8080 open as glc showed in his screen shot then forward the port in your router for Folding at home...
go to portforward.com and find your router and search for forwarding the port for folding...you can set folding to use that port and nothing else.... looks like that is your problem...you have it blocked (turned off) and folding needs it... Logmein doesnt mess with it as I use that as well....... |

Here's that screenshot in jpeg format...
I just checked the ports, 80 and 8080 are open, according to one of those online IP/port check tools. I'll try forwarding 8080 and report back... |
