Too Hot to Fold

Temp is expected to top 101 today, humidity is hanging around 78 %, I've shut down most of the farm. It looks like the Hi's ares going to stay at 95+ for a few days,
so I'm saving my budgeted KWh's to run the Central Air.

I don't blame you. The AC unit I got going is keeping the room around 75 but no doubt when I add more farms it is going to get crazy. I am wondering if I should wait till September to add the other units. In Illinois they raise the rate on electric in the summer.

Somebody ought to invent an ad-on accessory to bolt onto the back side of a tower
to isolate the exhaust fans so that the hot air could be ducted to a window mount blower.
that way all you would not have to knock down the BTu's that Folding produces.

good idea...I did thos with some hose and card board...worked pretty well just looked all hill-jacked...

We are getting hit pretty hard here with utility cost...

When I lived in town we had AEP electric and they charge .085 a kilowatt hour....now we live on the outskirts of town and have NIPSCO electric (who buys it from AEP for .04 a kilowatt hour) and they charge .26 a kilowatt hour for the 1st 200 kilowatt hours and .10 every kilowatt over that...

our electric bill has almost tripled going from a 4800sq ft home to a 1300sq ft home...I dont like the idea of living in a smaller home and paying a higher bill....

You will get it all back in the winter with lower heating bills.

Looking at some of the farms guys are running, they may not get it all back in the winter; they'll still be running the AC :-P

Out here, PG&E runs a tiered system . with 387.2 as a base-line

0-387 = .11559 per kwh
387.2-503 = .13142
503-774 = .22580
774-1161 = .31304
anything over 1161 = .358876 pwr Kwh

I was regularly topping over $300.00 a month in just electric bills.

Last month I used 1105 KwH and it cost me $123.72. We just got socked with a heat wave and I'm guessing next month's bill will be 200 bucks. My bills in the winter average about $65, this house is 100% electric except for the gas furnace.

Hmm. I'm not sure whether I'm getting my electricity for free (through my university) or whether I'm paying over $40,000 per year for it :-O
