Why have so many members stopped submitting blocks? We have like, 3 active members.
If Columbus had stopped early we might not have tobacco.
If T. Edison had quit early we would be watching tv by candlelight.

Don't feel bad - I moved my Seti account over here because the group I started with didn't appear to give a hoot any more - and it doesn't look any better here.

I did Seti for a long while and while it was interesting it may possibly never end. So I signed up for RC5 with the encourgement of members here (who by the way arnt here anymore) because it has an end in sight.
I mean it is cool if they dont want to participate anymore, it makes it more likely that me and my boys (P133, K6-233 and P3-450) will find the key. But I wonder why they stopped.
It hardly puts a load on the system and if it does because I am doing something intensive, I just pause it. And my boys run 24-7.

I've been running RC5 for quite a while now.

The reason I don't join the PCM team is because there's no advantage in doing so. It doesn't increase my chances of winning, yet if I were to be so lucky, then I'd get even less of the prize. (It's been a while, but I think I remember the member would get 50% and PCMech the other 50%? I forget exactly.)

Now if the team agreement were altered, so that the non-winning team-members would get a bit of the pot, then I'd reconsider and probably join. (it would depend on how the prize was divied up exactly)

But until then, I'm flying solo.

Haven't ran RC5 in a while. I quit running when I was only using a 200mhz laptop. Should fire it back up, probably under linux this time.

troysvihl has a good point. Join the PCMech team and lose $1000!

Well, PCMech gets the other $1000, but without joining the team we get the $2000 for ourselves

I originally joined the team because I thought we could find the key quicker together and get some of the prize money if one of us found it

Other than that I don't really see the point, I am still part of the team but not part of the project any more

I started doing SETI close to two years ago... and have stuck with it. I'm near the top of the list for our group now. If anyone's interested in coming back... we could sure use you!

I have been doing SETI for over two years, we have 40 members and 31 inactive members. I guess most people have lost interest.

I lost interest because it was "Find aliens" oh what a worthwhile cause!

I'm doing UD at the moment, find a cure for cancer. No money involved but it is for a good cause and is research for a UK University

Link in my sig, why don't we create a PCMech team?

Maybe the "aliens" will have a cure for cancer!

Sorry... I couldn't resist.

I'm in Stanford University's project via Google to learn about "unfolding proteins" for better health treatments.

I run UD for the [H]ard OCP team. IMO its a much better use of CPU cycles than SETI. Check it out, http://ud.com.
