Talking

Directly from http://www.setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu

I recommend that everyone should run the newest version. I will have all of my machine switched over by tomorrow.

A few of us got ahold of 3.0 yeserday and I knew it wouldn't be long before they posted it on the official site.

Well they have, it appears to be about the same as verison 2.76, how 2.76 fixed memory leaks that are in verison 2.7 and below...

I have verison 3.0 running on the Duron 600 system at work and it appears to run good...

Hal, I don't know what to tell you, if you install it, it will start your unit over, maybe it will run faster, maybe not...

It is possible to get out of the unit, but heck even if it is going to take forever it maybe worth turnning in....

I'm waiting until it's done this work unit.... not gonna let it churn away that much and have to start over. I have downloaded 3.0 and it's ready to install though.

Question

Anyone having this problem with 3.0?

works wonderfull up to about 50% done, 150+ mflops, then it goes down to a killer 12-20 mflops. Up to the 50% setispy is saying 6-8 hours, then it jumps to 30-50 hours!!

this is on c2 600@750
my celey 466@525 is a constant 60-70 mflops-sec @ 14 hours
each is set to no screen saver

the 600 has 128 meg ram(still trying to figure that cas2-2-2 thing out)
the 466 has 64 megs

any thought's or suggestions?
thx

you bet.
it will run a lot faster in a blank screen in the screen saver mode, make the changes and you will see a big differnce in speed.

the first two I did took 12-19 hrs without the blank screen,
as soon as I changed it, it now takes 4-5 hrs per work unit.

You might have got a killer work unit like the one I have now. I'm showing over 900 spikes now.
