Anyone else using setiDriver to run more that one copy of seti at the same time? I found that my average time droped from 5 to 6 hours (compared to the normal windows client)but what the hell I'm now doing 2 concurently (Dual P3 800).

Don't you mean it fell from 6 to 5? Anyway, that is cool. Where did you get seti driver?

I never had any luck getting the seti drive to work, in theory the seti driver is to act like a small buffer, example if the seti server is down and you had the seti driver, it you would have already downloaded a few more work units and you would be able to continue working them untill the server was back up. At that time, the seti drive is to turn in your work units that you finished during that time.

so it is really to avoid down time.

I have a friend that knows alot about running 2 seti work units at the same time on a duel cpu system using Win2K.
He runs one on CPU 0 and the Other on CPU 1, I understand how he does it, but I don't believe I could explan how to do it.

BTW Last night I pass 1,000 Work Units....11-04-00

JetBlack69, here is the url for Seti Driver
http://home.sprintmail.com/~obermd/SETIDriver/
It works beautifully with the winnt command line version 3.0. Also allows the use of Seti Spy.
Byte, congrats on passing the 1,000 mark! I passed 1,300 yesterday btw.

Jetblack69,
No I meant they got slower although that was based on the estimates of the first 2 units, I think my averages have settled down to abou 5 & 1/2 Hours now. It may be that the normal system processes are interfering with one or both of the seti clients now running, whereas before (running only 1) I would guess any system processing would have been palmed off to the idle processor.

Byte,
I'ts also great if you are leaving your PC unatended for a while but only have a dial up connention & would rather manually control when the units get returned thus avoiding the possibility of the line being left open. And yes I am also running 2 at a time on Win2K.

Phil B,
Yes it works, but so far I have only got setispy to show 1 unit in progress (i'm not sure which one).
