Other Seti news..

Ok, I have a new home for the Alf Hunters of PCMECH.

http://www.geocities.com/vontar/alf.html

I am accepting any and all ideas for this New page...Tell me what you want on it....

Here are things I am currently planing on having...

Guest Book, Direct Link to this Message board, counter, yes I know that is all pretty much normal stuff you find on all webpages, that is why I want you guys to give me more ideas...

BTW seti verison 3.03 is now available at http:/www.setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu

I have not tried it, but I will after my current unit is finished...You know that if you load a new client, it starts your current work unit over...So wait untill you have finished a work unit before you install the new client.

UPDATE: I just started running it and it appears to run slower......Maybe I just got a hard work unit. Too soon to tell for sure.

I have been running seti 3.3 for about a week now and it is slower. I went from about 10hrs per unit to about 17hrs. If you read through the seti site they say they have added more science coverage and it will be slower.

Cool

Holy smoke, Bailey, you have dropped to #6!
I am still hanging around #11. LOL
I am running 3.3 on an old 133 and it seems about the same. Very slow. I think the bigger problem is connecting to their servers for a new unit. sometimes it takes a couple of days on the dialup line. I havent noticed it on the cable conn. because it tries continuously.

Cool

I stand corrected, Bailey. Once again I have forgotten to "refresh". I dont think it is my cache, but my cable (RR) caches too, too much that is.
Byte, how often is the PC/Seti site updated? I see that it is a few behind my actual and what Seti home reports. Is this a liked DB, or do you have to initiate it?

I think that Mr. Byte has to edit it manually, it is about 30 behind for me now. I realy enjoyed it when I could compare my progress with the others on the team on a dailey basis, now I can't do that anymore, I had to slow one of my systems down a notch, the heat vent in my room is located above my desk, so when furnice comes on, the heat blows right on top of the computers, overheating one to the point it will lock up when running seti at 850mhz, runs ok at 700 mhz, I need to get a golden orb fan for the cpu to runn at 850.
both systems are built the same except one mb is a asus
p3b-f and the other is a ax6bc, cpu both is a celeron 566 fc-pga, seams that the asus system runs seti about 15 min faster that the other when set at same speed per work unit
