It sounds like you are running the graphical client and it will do that with many games so most peeps use the text console instead. I run 2 instances of F@H and I have no problems when I load BFV,FarCry or UT04 using the text console.

Do I need to know command lines to use that? Is it possible to install it and keep what I already started?
EDIT: I found a list of command lines. When I run the downloaded file for the text version it shows me lots of stuff and after its done my F@H is still the same.
EDIT2: Just saw that when it stop showing me stuff that its working. Is it possible to hide it like the graphical version?

Sorry for asking so many questions...will it send results and get new work automaticly, even with the text version? I got 2 working on this computer and 1 on a other, they all tell me they are working on "p638_L939_K12M_ext" is this normal or am I waisting my time doing the same thing 3 times over?

It should do everything on its own, just watch it for a few days and if it doesn't juist follow this guid for setting up f@h, http://www.maximumpc.com/features/fe...003-06-10.html
It's normal to get some of the same units. But most likely they are different. I've gotten the same before but when I check EM3 it shows more details on the units, and they are different.

Yes it will send and recieve WU's if you configured it to auto connect and to use IE settings then it should do it's own thing and you should have no problems as long as the Stanford servers are having no issues.
No working on the same WU is normal, I have done around 15 of the same protien myself.

Hey everyone!
I just set up F@H on my parent's computer at work, since our home one won't let it through the proxy. I have one WU done already. However, the computer is kind of slow so it probably won't be getting amazing ammounts of work done. It is usually on all the time though.

Bob, you should be able to configure your Proxy server in the config panel of F@H. Right click on the task bar icon. The port should be set to 8080.

Once you have completed a WU and it has posted on the Stanford stats you can use Statgfx for the sig.

As for running 2 instances on one Intel Hyperthreading cpu take a look at this The part about "2 folds are better than 1" is what you will need to focus on.

Jimmie, just thought you may want to know. The G5 has completed 23 work units in the last 4 days and i am now in 20th place because of it and moving up fast . Seems pretty good to me but I don't have a fast intel to compare it to, only the dual AMD 2000+ that was a lot slower. Is there anywhere to see machine benchmarks to see what other processors are capable of?

OEM, that is impressive if the WU's are not all small WU's which I'm sure the G5 has had a mixture of the WU's though. I have read that the G5's did far better than the older macs with F@H. I have no idea if anyone has compiled the data for ppd/ppw for macs. There is a member of the team I'm now on that collects the data taken from EMIII that team members submit and he compiles it into ppd, ppw and ppghz for various wintel cpu's. I will check and see if I can find any for the macs.
I don't know if EMIII will work on a mac but you could monitor the macs production from a Wintel box for a week or so then submit the html and get a comparison.

My 2.8's put out around 1350 ppw each.

I am running the google toolbar to block pop up ads. How can I tell if they loaded it on my computer and if so, can I remove it or turn it off or do I have to uninstall it? I would like to do this before adding it here.

Using Google Compute

1. How do I know if Google Compute is currently running?

The Google Compute DNA (double helix) icon in your Google Toolbar indicates if the application is running. If it appears bright, then Google Compute is working on a problem. If the icon is dimmed, it means Google Compute is not running. You can also check the status at any time by pointing your mouse at the DNA (double helix) icon for a couple of seconds.

2. How do I turn Google Compute on and off?

To turn off Google Compute, click on the DNA (double helix) icon in the Google Toolbar, and select the "stop computing" option. To turn it back on, click on the DNA (double helix) icon and select the "start computing" option.
more info on the google F@H

If you are refering the the statgfx sig then I really have no idea, but it often is behind a good day on the results.

Wow, I'm up from 25th to 15th place in less than 2 weeks with this new machine, I reckon we'll have all kind of cures within a month if I keep this up.

My stats are now updating, sorry for the trouble.

Well count me in. The protein picture is kinda neat looking. Hopefully I'll contribute in some shape or fashion. How long does it take until a WU is done?
