I don't know the exact amount of KB but you wil most likely not be spending more than 3 minutes downloading a unit.
Again, I don't know the exact amount. If the files where to large it wouldn't be attractive anyway. So to let such a project succeed you will need small files. PiC |

i just installed and started it up.
ill give it a few days test and if it works allright, ill stay in. The comp is mostly on during daytime, but off at night. i joined with pcmech team number and same name as here. can anyone tell me how i can see if its a big one or not i got in? i can see a name of something its working on, but not if it ll be a long one or not. btw the pc is an athlon 1800, 265ddr333, but the hd is an old 10gig i think ata33 or somthing IBM drive. does this affect the speed or is it only cpu cycles?

(i hope to see it on 1% soon to see if it actually works ) |

Takes just a few minutes to download the program, and the work items are quite small. Took me no time, and I'm on the world's slowest dial-up connection.
BTW, I have begun folding on my second comp as well. |

Hi everybody,
My name is on the PCMECH list . Just a shame you can't take the processed units with you to the new team. But maybe this system is more fair this way.PiC |

Currently have 1 pc on p638, 1 on p678, and one on p679.
I'll add my second home computer tonight. I think that p679 should complete today, but the others are higher point value WU's (70.9) and are taking a long time to complete. |

Anyone know any ways to tweak a PC for f@h? I have a spare computer sitting at home, and I'm thinking of tweaking it to run F@H to it maximum ability.
I know processor speed would be the most important consideration. Does this solely thrive on CPU cycles, or are there other things that I can do to improve the processing speed? |

The only thing you can do is overclock it. Make sure any unnecessary programs arn't running in the background too - that'll free up more processing power.

My first fold has completed! It was a 250. I have a 400 nearing completion as well.

Hey, the pictures on the splash screen I see when I check my progress don't actually reflect the work being accomplished by my computer, right? I mean, it's just the same pic for all of us, isn't it?

I think I read somewhere that the pictures are the current protein that your computer is folding.... I'll look around and see if I can find out for you Tim.

Active Processors means how many different processors (computers) the team has currently working. We may have 20 memebers that have completed a work unit, but several have multiple computers running Folding@Home.
