A job for the F@H Members

Hey Guys! Now that we have a new board, I'd like to create some more specific Information, instructions, links, etc. for the Folding@Home stuff. I think it would be good to first, brainstorm on what info/instructions/links we want Stickied on this board and then second, to assign each section to one or two people to write!

So, if you'd like to help, start brainstorming

we could put some info of just basically how to join, the folding thread and Kov-Ice's summary of it all on top. that would be what i would do for now. maybe links to the stats pages, downloads, etc.

just a few general ideas

Good idea. Would anybody be willing to write information on how to download the client and join our team?

If you would, post here that you're doing it (so we don't have multiple people working on the same article) and then when you're done, PM or E-mail it to me for review and I'll get it stickied!

Thanks!

This is probably a question for the people that gave us a section of the forums. Is it possible to put our team number somewhere in the Distributed Computing section? Maybe a nice banner so people dont have to look for the number. Also, this banner could also give a congrats to PC Mech breaking the top 100. Just some ideas.

One other thing, on our stats page we don't have a logo like many other teams have. David, you think Dris would let us use the PCMech logo or maybe someone could design one for us?

What has happened to David?

Back on topic

I know other teams use some sort of incentive to get and keep members folding such as give-a-ways although we might have a hard time doing something like that on our own. I know David once gave away some led's and that was about the last I recall of that, but I think it would also help for the team members to trade and sell hardware to each other to help the team as a whole ie if you have a small HDD's, NIC's or cheap video card's that someone else may need to get a box up and folding. The adopt a rig that Extreme Overclockers use is a great idea but might be something to look at down the road.

I would still like to get a logo up on the stats page and one either for an avatar or sig for our team members.

Just throwing something out there and no telling what will come back.

Hey Jimmie. I actually emailed drisley last September to ask about using the PCMech key logo to create a Folding logo for the team. He said even tho he supported the idea, since it wasn't officially a PCMech thing that he'd prefer not to tinker with the logo. He did say it was cool to create something fresh, I just never got around to messing with it yet. School's out in a week and a half, so I'll hopefully have time to come up with something this summer...

I was thinking about the incentive thing lately as well. I wonder if we could get someone like newegg to sponsor it by offering coupons for discounts or something like that. Worth a shot?

Well with the logo I was thinking something other than the official PCM logo this time around.

As far as the incentive I dunno but I do know we need to do something cause there is a lot of cpu power with PCM members that is wasted running screensavers and not folding

Guys don't go nuts on me with the avatar I didn't have photoshop installed on this OS and made this one with IrfanView

Group hug! hehe

trainop, you should have said co-MVP... It is good to have you folding for us, tho, Jimmie. Now we need to get N8 and Kubie back in action. I know N8 is working for a different team, but is Kubie folding at all any more?

No, I'm not the MVP (Most Valuable Producer) that would be Trainop.

It would be nice to see Kubie back but I'm not gonna trust a hope.

Well Train you are still top dog! I won't have anywhere near the number of machines you have and now I'm down to just 3-5 till cooler temp get here.

Right now I have 3 of the (p1110_L939_K12M_nat_min1) 249 pointers and 2 of the (p694_L939_wt_ext) 236 pointer going which is slowing me down also
