I recently started being part of this Folding@Home thing (before I started using PCMech by a few days), and my computer has been really loud lately. Do you think this can be from F@H at all? It could very well be something else, just wondering if this has happened to anyone.
Also, like I said in the sticky thread, since I already started the F@H (through labs.google.com), can I join the PCMech team? How? |

F@H will use every available clock cycle, effectively making your computer run at 100%. If you have XP, view the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and check the Performance tab. Your CPU is performing many more calculations than typical light use, and must dissipate the extra heat that is generated in doing so. This in turn can make your CPU/HS fan run raster and making it louder. Is this what you mean by "louder"?
Also, you can fold for PCMech at any time by changing the Team ID#. If you are using the graphical client, check around the properties tabs until you see a place to enter a Team #, where you would enter 13761 for PCMech. The text/console client requires the creation of a shortcut with a "-config" switch. Right-click on the Console.exe icon and Create Shortcut, then go to properties and add "-config" to the "Target..." line. When you run it, it will reconfigure F@H and give you a chance to enter the new team number. However, any already processed units will not carry over to PCMech. You'll have to start from scratch. Hope this helps! DH |

I'm assuming that you are using the graphical client here so I apologize if this is incorrect.
Right Click the F@H icon in the bottom right of your screen, and choose "Config". Then go to the user tab (should be the first tab that shows) and change the team number to 13761. And you will now be a proud member of the PCMech F@H Team .
