Issues with Aol?

I was adding my gf's 2.4 ghz HT pentium to my rigs but I'm having issues with it. When I start it up and enter in the info it starts to connect to the servers but comes back and says User Id not found locally then tries to connect to the servers but cant connect to the primary or secondary. It does this repeatedly and wont even connect at all. She has Windows XP and Aol(yes I know).

I will assume she is an adult so that would possibly rule out AOL parental control, but what about firewalls and other internet security programs she may have on her computer. Is this a dial up or broadband connection?
