Change of name

I just changed my name in Folding at home from Vontar with 3 units to Byte_2

Figure you guys will know me a bit more with that.

I am reading for tips that might make it run faster, Does the command line one make much of a difference?

Also one computer I have the one with the screen saver, and on other Non screen save verion. Any speed difference?

Also, I locked both in the Folding@home program, not the genome@home.

I'm not real sure of the speed difference in the clients, but the text console and service method seem to be the least trouble, the graphical and screensaver can cause gaming errors and some users have issues with openGl and the graphical client from what I have read.

I've seen people saying that the graphical client can cause errors when gaming, doing heavy editing work, etc., but I've never had a problem while gaming.

I don't know if there is a speed difference, if there is, it's probably very small.

Command lines are for the console. The -forceasm one in the Tips & Tricks magazine article is now unneccessary for newer processors from what I remember reading on the folding forums. However, if you use an HT processor with two instances you must use the -local tag in each command line.

I've never closely checked the frame rates of my console and GUI (both on my HT 2.4) against one another, but in the same amount of time the console has completed over 300 WUs while the GUI has done around 250. Dunno if that's luck of the draw on downloading smaller WUs, but I have heard that it works a bit faster.

Console is definitely less trouble, esp on an XP system. GUI causes crashes for me in Battlefield, using MusicMatchJB, and in a couple of other things.

From fastest to slowest is: installed as a service, text console, grapical client then screensaver but there really is not a huge amount of difference between them in the short term.
I have most of mine running as a service using only the -local flag because of running multiple instances on a single cpu. I've seen no difference in the -advmethods flag with the amout of gromacs or tinkers.
