Games Running Choppy

As the subject suggest, my games are running choppy. However, it seems as though it is a steady skip, about every 2 seconds. This happens in Lock-On and Hitman Contracts. I'm assuming it's something running in the background but I'm not sure what it could be. I've attatched a screenshot af all my running processes and my system specs are as follow:

Abit NF7 v2 Mobo
Athlon XP 2600+ (OC'd 3200+)
1GB DDR 2700
PNY GeForce FX 5900
Using OnBoard Audio
WD 250GB <-----storage only
WD 120GB <-----storage only
Maxtor 60GB <---system drive
Optorite 4x DVDR-RW
Sony DVD-ROM
Memorex 52x32x52 CDRW
Promise Ultra ATA133 IDE Controller

On a side note, I've just recently OC'd my rig and thought that maybe this was the issue so I dropped it back down and still had the steady skip in my games. I'm using all of the latest drivers and have ALL windows updates. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

As I've mentioned.... the games I'm concerned with are Lock-On and Hitman Contracts. The OS is XP Pro SP1. Should've mentioned that b4.

I did find one thing....

The board I have, ABIT NF7 doesn't support EAX and uses the PROCESSOR to handle audio acceleration....how lame. The NF7-S on the other hand has EAX and hardware acceleration built in.....bah. Just when I started to like this darn board.

Anyway, I think that this is an important finding because I have sound settings CRANKED on every game that I play. Maybe this is what is causing my steady skipping every 2 seconds in newer games. I notice no skipping in older games.

I still haven't solved the sound issue though. I said to heck with it and ordered a Sound Blaster LIVE last night. BTW, I did come across another forum that had some similar sound issues. I'll post a link incase anyone is curious about this situation.
