The new ATI x800, the new king of the hill: or is it?

After reading this, you may just want to stick with your 9800 pro a little while longer. http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040603/index.html

If I had paid that I would also be fast to defend... Sounds like the only real issue is that they tried to hide it.

I read an artical on this. ATi is not cheating or optimizing. They came out in a press conference and even said they came up with a new way of filtering the textures. They just developed a new way of filtering the textures that gives better performance. I dont agree with this article from THG if you ask me, they dont give an example of the "brilinear filtering" only bilinear and trilinear, it seems like they are try to be tricky and misleading. Ill try and find a link to the article of the press conference.

Not to mention Nvidia has been using "Brilinear" texturing for years. Which makes it even more silly.

EDIT: Here is an article where they actually know what they are talking about.

Even so, it seems that video hardware has gotten a little ahead of game demands.

Even though these companies are cheating what else are you gonna buy? You have two (more or less) options....ATi or nVidia, they have both been accused of cheating, but hey, what else is there to do?
