Far Cry Sound and AI

I just downloaded and played the Far Cry demo. I have done that before but I was just messing around. The game got a 9.2 on Gamespot and I have heard nothing but praise about the game. I just hope the full game is better than the demo. Not that the demo is horrible but it has some flaws. The AI in the demo is horrible. I saw my enemies do jumping jacks when stuck on a small rock, run up and down stairs endlessly, run in place, get stuck running rapidly side to side against a wall, stare me in the face over a small tree branch and not see me, the list goes on. Now surely they fixed those problems in the full game... did they? Also, I hope they did something about the repetetive and boring voice work. I heard enemies say one of two things, "Where are you! Die now!" and "You're finished!". The surround sound effect also seemed vauge compared to other games like Call of Duty. It sounded more like ProLogic than EAX. Please tell me the full version is better. I have been consedering buying the game but I want some opinions of actuall owners.

IMHO the game is great! No, it's not perfect as far as some of the repetitive taunts and I have seen a few times where I have killed one of the enemies and yet he is still standing there taking aim at me. There is a patch out that deals with some of the issues and a new patch ( ver. 1.2 ) is due out any day now. As far as the sound goes I think it sounds like crap on my friends system which has the same sound card and speakers you have, but I don't know if it's a configuration issue or just me.

I have no problems with Far Cry, I'd have no compunction in recommending it to them. The AI is very good, aside from one thing: when they're getting attacked by the trigons and you appear, they all gang up on you. Apart from that, an excellent game

Game is great and the AI is one of the best I've seen. The only complaint I have is that you can't save progress when you want to. For instance, in later parts of the game, you can be 20 minutes into a level, make a mistake and die, and then have to start the entire level over again.

It's been stated that the demo for the game has problems and they have been fixed in the retail game.

i have been frustrated by this game....not by the gameplay. but the fact the game just goes back to the desktop for no apparent reason.
i've been to the msg boards for farcry and evidently alot of people were having the same issues. no one thing has solved it for everyone. some even had high end systems

Yeah, thats my only beef so far. I wish the people who box these games up would list that on the box. Whether you can quick save or not. Thats one thing I didn't like about Mafia, no quick save. Hitman, 1 and 2 were the same. Hardest game I've try to play. I still haven't got past the second level in Hitman 2.

I like Far Cry and haven't had any problems with it yet. Only once the sound didn't load or something and I had to quit and restart the game. It was fine after that.

Go over to www.farcry.ubi.com and get the quick save patch for the game.

Hmmm, didn't see quick save patch- but found this in hte FAQ's:

Q: Is there any way to "quick save"?
A: Yes, type the following command in the console when you want to save: "\save_game 1". To load it, type "\load_game 1". The number 1 represents the save name.

thanks for the tip

I have yet to see a save patch but only read that it might be in the next patch due out which has been pushed back.

Another related issue to the lack of save game and the 20 min gaps between was when your health was awesome, armour 100%, and then just before the savegame you miss a trigon or something and get maimed, and it saves you with tiny amounts of health... you then either have to go back, or cop it sweet

Far Cry is excellent. I totaly reccomend it. The AI is good, better than most games. The voice over work sucks. Sounds like a bunch of jocks. Some graphic issues on some machines. But the graphics are awsome.

Over-all get it.

Note: Did you know that the makers of Far Cary got busted for making the game using Pirated Software.

Far Cry is flippin' sweet most of some of the time, other times I want to dropkick it.

The AI is pretty solid, but things can get really inconsistent sometimes, EX: Sometime I have to empty a whole mag of M4 in a dudes face before he will go down, other times I could shoot him in the foot and he would die.

All in all I give it a Super Rad rating.

Show me the news story. I don't believe it. Far Cry came from a tech demo that they thought would make a real cool game. That is... an IN HOUSE tech demo. No one stole anything from what I've heard.

Interesting, but that was back in Feb. I haven't heard anything since then about it. Sounds like a hoax (which was eluded to in one of the articles, that it may be a hoax).

Yeah all the stories I found seemed to be from around the first of Feb. All of them seemed to have the same story line and nothing else has been mentioned about it since.

Well, there you have it... it wasn't a hoax, just a disgruntled ex-employee trying to cause mischief

I remember one girl got kicked out of my school for drugs a few years ago, and for the next 3 days we had bomb threats. Eventually she made a mistake and used a phone monitored by a video camera, and they traced and arrested her. Makes you wonder really

Stupid girl. When I was back in middle school I had to take the SAT for this Duke Talent Search thing. (Yes, I did say Middle School). We had to take it in the high school in the next county (one of our rivals). I've never been in a scarier school in my life. The school was old and nasty in the first place, but everywhere you went you would see video camera domes and posters on the wall saying $200 rewards would be given if you turned in anybody who reported a bomb threat. Freaked me out (I was just a little kid too). Then to top it off, they ran their air conditioning full blast for the entire test. (3 hours). I know they do this because cold air keeps you awake and helps you think better, but I doubt you think well when you're shivering inside a jacket.
