Well it won't effect the release date. Vivendi is going to release the game towards the end of the 2nd quarter. Which means end of September begining of October. The real kicker is that Half Life 2 beta testing at Valve is weeks away from being complete. Gabe Newell is now disapointed because the game could have been released sooner, like this summer.
Welcome to the club Gabe.

considering the cat is already out of the bag, is it illegal to grab the stolen source code off the public web?

well, many things come to mind that are all over the place, but not legal
![]() besides, i don't think i am going to hack hl2 servers. still, i'd like to see how a "real" company handles networking. AS |

If I'm not mistaken, they stole the source codes to have hacks ready to use when it was released. I think that's pretty stupid considering it forced valve to rescript everything...they should have wait until AFTER the game came out, then hack it...its not like valve would leave you without any cheats, and i don't think they had a multiplayer of HL2.
Anyways it's good to know that they caught the idiots. Valve should release their name/address/phone number...see if they'll ever try that again...

It'd be kinda sad though. Losing your life over a computer game isn't the way I'd want to go out.
