Painkiller ... a truly killer difference!
Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this game with nVidia based cards and ATi cards? I couldn't even run the Demo with my old 5200FX, but I can get 60FPS with all settings maxed (1600 x 1200 Rez, 4x AA, everything maxed) with my new ATi 9200 -- which I was told is not much faster than the 5200FX.
Anyone else think that is rather odd? |

Just goes to show why ATI is recommended so much around here.
That's the thing with the FX series. The specs seem to be comparable but real world performance is horrible.

On my aopen gf4ti4200 128mb (athlon2200+, abit nf7s, 512mb ddr333) painkiller works great. I run it at 1024*768 with settings at max . I never play at higher resolution settings, my monitor is 17 inch and my eyes are not good.
Im still glad i bought one of the older nvidia cards back when i built my system. It has worked great on every game i tried on it .

I also played the demo, and I got great frame rates with my FX5700 Ultra, also at 1024x768 w/ all settings maxed.

This is a pretty cool game. Not to complicated so you can just sit down and play for the fun of playing. Worked my way to the first boss, but I can't kill him. I didge and weave and fire away but he just won't die. Any hints? I think he is the first boss....I am underground and he is a zombie like creature and when he hits you you go flying....

Hey Force Flow, I never noticed before that you have a triple boot system. Why do you need so many OS's?

First I had 98SE installed, then I slowly migrated over to 2000 and XP. I still use 98SE for some apps that won't run on 2k/XP. Another reason for the multiboot is that I tend to toy around with O/S settings and tweaks from time to time and it's handy to have a backup O/S to use in case I render one inoperable for a short time.
As for doing tech support, I've since found it's handier to have a seperate workstations with the approprate O/S than having to reboot a multiboot system into the O/S I'm trying to give a walkthrough with. |

You should have lured him to the middle of the pit after shooting the star.
Walk across the bridge, wait until he follows you, then jump to the ladder on the left, and he will fall into the pit. |

He's a vampire, if you shoot the boards above and lure him to the sunlight
he'll die.
