UT 2004 Slow Load time

Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?- When playing UT 2004 online, when new game starts, by the time the game loads up the match has already been going on for about two minutes- thus making it impossible to be competitive. This is the only MP game that does this on my computer- that is other MP games such as CoD load quickly so I'm ready to go when the match starts.

My HD is a WD 7200 RPM with 8 mg cache.

See if you can cut down on the programs running in the background.

I would try what force flow says, i have this same problem on ut2k4 on the initial load, but not the load times between round.

How much memory do you have?

I'll try that- it is also slow loading between rounds (but just on UT- not on CoD, Wolfenstein, Neverwinter Nights, or Far Cry). I have 512 ram; AMD 3000+, ATI 9500 Pro.

Didn't help- I was watching my son play the game,- by the time an assault level loaded the assault match had already been going for over a minute. Think I'll reinstall the game. Again, this is the only game/program that is having a slow load time- I was wondering if this was a common problem- but apparently it isn't. Thanks for the input- I'll let you know if a reinstall helps.

This game is a monster on system resources. My girlfriend tries to play on her p3 and most of the time, the matches are over before she loads. This is a common problem, because the maps are large. The average maps seems to be between 8-18 meg in size and that's not including static meshes, sounds, music and network speeds. You maybe able to alleviate this problem with more ram, but I wouldn't count on it. A faster processor will more than likely not work any better. What kind of internet service do you have? I have a AMD 64 3000 with 1gig of memory and I'm normally one of the first people in the servers online, but I have had to wait several minutes before anyone else was able to catch up. You can take heart that many other people are having the same trouble.
