Extremely frustrating Call of Duty problem!

I have a fresh install of XP Home on a new hard drive. COD keeps dissapearing! After it goes away everything is very bright and unreadable and I have to restart. I have reinstalled the game but that doesn't help. I don't have anything running in the background. I am on the Russian campagn where you charge the square and every time I get into it, it is gone within three seconds. I tried starting a new campaign just to see what would happen and it played for about 10 minutes and quit. Now when I try to load that new campaign it's gone in three seconds. There are no heat problems. I have the latest drivers for my video card and the game is up to date with the latest patch.

I experienced a similar problem with it where the screen would get very dark on me occasionally. I'd have to go to the Options/System Graphics/Brightness and slide it back to normal. I've not come across a reason as to why yet, tho...

My game is crashing not just going dark or light. When the game crashes everything on my desktop turns bright.

That is a common problem that happens to those who use ATI cards. You need to download the latest ATI driver and latest Call Of Duty patch.

I don't have an ATI card. I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4800se. I have never had a problem with the game before. I have played through the single player section once without a problem. Multiplayer works fine.
