Wink Graphically Demanding Games

What do you think is the most graphically demanding game out right now? Of course, the famous one would be the much anticipated HL2, but who knows when that'll come out . I'm thinking FarCry or HALO (HALO2 to come soon).

Thanks,
kram

I would say Farcry right now. I think Farcry surprised alot of people on how demanding it is. As for HL2 and Doom3 I don't know which one will be tougher on the vid card.

I would also say Far Cry is the most demanding right now. Surprisingly, seemingly the least demanding is Painkiller, though the visuals are no less stunning in my opinion. As to the future, who knows. I'm leaning towards Doom III being the more video card intensive, but I'm sure that most of the future games will be, and the difference is going to be neglibile.

Well, amazingly, the only plan I had when I started building my computer was to use the graphics card whatever it would have been (back then I was aiming 9500 Pro) to play CounterStrike. Now, my list is HALO, and FarCry, both of which I have been advised a Radeon 9800 Pro 256-bit can handle flawlessly at 1024x768, hence my asking.

Thanks,
kram

So far, demos and games, my 9500pro has done a great job.
My 17" crt : 1024x768 at 85Hz, runs them all.
FarCry is mostly set at high, 2 at medium, but I have no complaints.
On the otherhand, if a 9800 fits your budget, get it!

Currently playing - Thief: Deadly Shadows
Bloom on, and AA off.
FarCry - I love great graphics .
Homeworld - The problem isn't the video card but I think I can get better.

Already have a Radeon 9800 Pro 256-bit sitting right next to my desk here, waiting to be assembled along with the CPU and Case that was just ordered

I always thought that Halo was the most demanding but when I look at benchmarks I always look at FarCry.

BTW: Benchmarks should start using the v1.2 patch for Far Cry (if it's even out) b/c I've seen reviews where that adds support for SM3.0 and fixes problems with nVidia cards.

Pam, how do you like T: DS? I just played the demo on the latest MaximumPC CD, and I have to say that even though I didn't really enjoy the pacing of the first and second Thief games, I was really having fun. I'm thinking of picking it up. What do you think?

Thumbs up

I'm Playing Deadly Shadows and whenever I'm NOT playing the game, I can't wait to get back into it.

As a big fan of the first two thiefs (both of which I've played a couple of times each), I am enjoying this one just as much.

Peace,

Worth the price !
The demo doesn't do it justice.
Wait till you get to "the cradle", play it late at night with the lights off.

Thanks for the heads-up, I probably will use up a little credit on the EBEdge card that's been burning a hole in my pocket!
