I don't know but I think the only way you might be able to run even Doom 3 on all max might be with like an ATI x800 but I don't know. The processor and ram are plenty good enough and the video card is probably good enough, I hope it is I got the same one. But if you can't run it all maxed out it should be pretty close to all maxed.

That system should take you to Half-life 3, Doom 4 and Far Cry 2.
According to an article in this months PC Gamer...."So long as you have at least a GeForce4 MX card (and remember, a GeForce4 MX is LESS powerful than a GeForce3), you should be able to play Doom 3 with many of it's bells and whistles at a decent clip."
That was a direct quote so please no flames!

It will let him run HL3, D4, and FC2 but will it let him run them on maxed out specs.

Pretty much any game currently out will run very well on your system. HL2 will run with high settings, perhaps not maximum, not enough information is out to know for sure.
Doom 3 will not run at maximum. It will run with some high settings, but not the absolute maximum. Doom 3 is programmed in such a way that its maximum performance cannot be achieved with any equipment currently on the market. But as CaptTuna mentioned, if a Geforce 4 MX can play it, your 9800Pro will fly through it.

For max settings? Probably until the end of the year...games are going to get increasingly demanding with the release of the "AGP 16X" Solution, the PCI-Express. I would think that you would be able to play games fine for at least 2 years.

A quote from Robert Duffy, lead programmer, id Software in theSeptember issue of PC Gamer
Assuming the only difference between two systems is their graphics interfaces, will a PCI Express-based PC run Doom3 faster than an AGP-based system?
Mr. Duffy said "PCI Express should make no notable difference"

Thats because PCI Express is bottlenecked by the FSB. No computer even totally uses 8x agp to the maximum yet......so PCI-Express shouldnt make any difference for awhile until FSB speeds catch up.
