Sounds like a slick marketing scam to me...just another way Microsoft can get their fingers into one more pie? You can get game demos for just about any game at the author's website...where they also post the minimum system requirements needed to play the game as well. But hey, I'm just cynical...

Well I have seen that before. It could actually be useful. Everything is in one place and it shows results based on your PC specs.

I think it should also give you a deeper analysis. It should say, maybe in towns or villages the smoothness of your graphics will drop. Or, everything but your graphics card is much over the recommened requirements.

I think that would be too hard to do. I will test it out and see how it goes.

I thought it was a download, it is merely and internet based program (using ActiveX). It won't work in Mozilla, you have to use IE, It does tell you if a game will run and what not and it has a pretty large library of games, but I don't think it iwll be something I use on an everyday basis.

Oh ok, I just ran it on my work computer. Basically said the computer is a piece of junk, doesnt even get close to meeting the minimum requirements to play Battlefield:Vietnam. Atleast it tells you which requirements you dont meet so you know what you need to upgrade. It might be a good place to grab game demos though.

It says mine can run Battlefield Vietnam fine. I did notice one odd thing. It says my video card is a Ti 4200. It isn't.

That is weird...I wonder why it says that. Are you sure you bought a 4800SE? LOL! Actually I just realized why it said that, we're working with Microsoft!

It must be a 4800se. It outperforms the Ti4200 by a longshot.

No not the computer in my sig, I tested it on a work computer which is a 2.4Ghz Celeron, 256MB of ram and Intel 2MB shared ram onboard video.

Weird that it doesnt recognize your card correctly. Are you using the latest drivers?

Edit: Looking through the games it seems that it makes the decisions on the processor, and I don't think it takes DX support into account on all games (i.e. it claims RS3:Athena Sword will run very well on my PC.) Anyway my computer (256mb ram, Athlon XP 2500+, Geforce 4 MX 440) is in terms of performance one bar from the end. 3DMark does not agree.
