Doom 3 benchmarks from Id....
They're here : http://www2.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjQy
It looks like NVidia is redeemed and ATI has to do some rethinking.

Doom3 is an nVidia game.
HalfLife2 is an ATI game. I'm sure the HalfLife benchmarks will favor ATI.

Hmmm... I wonder if my video card will run that game on the highest settings. I can play the FarCry demo on high and if they are running DoomIII on a GeForce4 MX then I'd say my card should do a fine job.

Yes I bet a 9800 Pro will easily run it and at medium settings with no problem. I doubt you will be able to run it at max settings without some slow down though.
The 9800XT is running at medium quality and getting 50 fps, I imagine the 9800 Pro performing close to that but slightly less.

I'm not surprised. Doom III is OpenGL and is better off for nVidia who finally seemed to redeem itself somewhere. As for whether Direct3D would be good there, I think that's where ATI Radeons shine.

Sorry I posted the same link in another post. I never realized that Doom 3 was an nVidia game, that does better explain those benchmarks...now that I know that.

But kram, your comment is noted and I don't want to de-rail this thread so I will just agree with you that nVidia seems like the better choice for this game. |

I just finished reading the PCG review .
They're serious about it running well on all the cards from the MX 400 to the latest 6800. Well, we'll know soon enough. |
