G4phoria

If you got cable or satellite TV, you may be familiar with the new channel G4TechTv. Well they cooked up this "event" where games and some people are supposed to get awards or something. I watched some coverage and it seems like its aimed at [uninformed individuals]. I mean, if you watch it you see they're interviewing these people who have nothing to do with games or probably never played games in their life for their opinion on games.
Like the other day they were showing this show and some girl says something stupid about what a game should be like "Well, I think a good game should take you to another world with DIFFERENT rules!" On the bottom it says who she is "Comedian" or "Entertainer" (whatever that implies") and there are many people like that they interview for opinions.
So this G4phoria is supposed to be some kind of hollywood award-like event and I think its [stupid]. Bring me back normal tech-tv

G4 was a channel entirely dedicated to gaming, while TechTV was a channel more dedicated to the latest gadgets and happenings in the world of technology. However it seems that since the two merged, it hasn't been all that great. To me anyways.

Their website, www.g4techtv.com, is awful too.

They (G4TechTV) have really messed up the shows that originated from TechTV, but I'll give them a couple more months to get things to run smoother.

I haven't watched the show in a couple months, but if it's as bad as you say it is, looks like what little TV I watch will be even less than that now.

I just spent about an hour there surfing around. I believe it to be intended purely for main stream users (that is not you and me.) All and all I was able to find some decent articles that were not impossible to digest with the unneeded editorializing.

Calmius you are right on. I still watch that channel myself sometimes, one of the few that interests me, and I still can't figure out why they interview these people that know nothing about games, except to prove that hollywood stars actually play video games.

The other day they had an actress from some tv show that played only nintendo games!? And she had this to say, "I think that games should be aimed more towards girls, with hotter looking guys and stuff." WHAT!?

That show needs some review, definately...

A couple shows I do like. They're Judgement Day and X Play. But everything else is just kinda dumb, all because they keep inserting these stupid comments from random people in there.

Thank God. I thought it was me, being old and all that. I too thought G4TechTV was moronic.

And whats with those "tips" they give in the commercials? They last for ever and are pointless. As if I need a 2 minute video to show me how to resize a picture.
If your enough of a geek to watch that channel, you dont need those tips

On a positive note, I do like Screen Savers and X-play, both of those shows are pretty good. Tech TV just needs to balance out the good and bad.

Does anybody like that show unscrewed, because I don't...did I just start something

If you haven't noticed, but most of the the good shows are from the original TechTV. X-Play and The Screen Savers are the only shows i'll watch. And in my opinion The Screen Savers has gone down hill.

I have stopped watching TechTV/G4TV or whaveter it is now. I have seen my sister on X-Play occasionally, and I sometimes sit to watch a lil bit of it, but I have yet to turn it on myself in the past 3 months or so, which I think is before the merger, but the merger is helping to keep me away. Can't stand the website and I dont know if I could stand to many of the shows that are now playing on the channell.
