losing sound in doom 3

i have sound but when i change levels i lose my sound. sometimes when i go into game i have no sound. anybody else having this problem? i have put the game in 3 times now.

No, not having a problem; it sounds great on my system... I don't have a clue, but how are you trying to change the sound level / volume? On some games / software, if I use my keyboard to change volume it gives a little problem, so maybe if you crank up the volume before starting DooM, then use the volume control on the speaker set itself will work.

Wolfie I am having a similar problem. I am tward the end of the game and my sound will cut out on me in the middle of a level. I have updated the drivers on my audigy 2 zs. What card are you using wolfie.

This is a common problem that many people who have the audigy card have experienced with doom III. I spent a lot of time with Creative America trying to fix this problem and they told me that I would have to wait for a fix in the future. Activision didn't seem to have a clue about to fix, either.

found the best thing to do is turn off surround sound in game and set it to normal. my sound seems to stay then.

I guess that explains why I'm not having problems. My Audigy 2 is still pushing the old Klipsch 4.1s. I find it amazing and frustrating that such two of the largest players in computers can't get it right and have their stuff work right straight out of the box.

I figured it out. I was using the sofware volume control. If you turn the sound up all the way in xp then use the speakers to control your volume it works nicely.
