greedo Doom 3 Tips and Tricks (no cheats)

This is mearly a tips and tricks post. If you found something that works for you in those tuff situations then share the wealth. I'll start.

1> Head shots are good
2> Save often when at a decent amount of health and armor
3> Learn to use the shift key to run and doge those pesky imps
4> Zombies with machine guns are mean run away and draw them in don't give them a chance to hit you.
5> Shoot first ask questions later
6> Pay attention to the spam e-mails some of the game may not be directly in the game.

Thats all I have right now I'm on alpha labs so there will be more to come. I need help with killing the pinkies in a fast and timely manner before they get to me and tear me apart. I tried going head to head with one and it messed me up so much that the imp after him kicked my butt. This was the first time i met the pinky. I got passed it and the imp only to meet another pinky around the corner so m stuck right now. This was with 125 armor and 100 health.

The Shotgun works the best on the pinkies, IMO. 2 or 3 shots close up to the head should take care of him. just run backwards. Sprint backwards if he gets too close.

Use the flashlight to illuminate a dark room for no more than 1 second at a time, especially in an area where their might be a lot of enemies. Use it to quickly search, do a 360 around the room, and grab your gun away. If you see anything, quickly put your flash light awayand shoot into darkness...

That may seem like common sense, but watching someone else play this game, they would hold the flashlight until it was too late, and then he was swatting away with the flashlight, and fumbling for the f key or one of the number keys to pull out a gun.

Head shots are the best place to take a shot on almost every creatures, especially the zombies. This doesn't work as well on zombies with headgear. Body shots don't do all that much damage, it appears. If the head is covered, try for the arms or legs.

Make sure you reload before you see a cache of ammo/armor/health. Demons usually pop in for a visit as soon as you pick up some of the goods.

Watch for floor panels that are ajar. Creatures like to pop out from under those. Not every single one has a creature under it, however.

Pay attention to recessed wall panels. Those are usually secret panels. Have your weapon trained in that direction to prepare yourself for a creature stumbling out.

Dark storage areas usually house a creature or two.

Pay attention to footsteps, grunts and growls. This is a big tip off for zombies ahead.

I saw a guy with no head, kinda hard to get a headshot on him
zombies are always in the dark where you cant see them, if I take out my flashlight they attack me and I cant shoot them but if I dont I cant see them. Maybe ill just get a mod that puts a flashlight on my gun but theres only one for the SMG and the pistol, can only put 1 of the mods at a time.

As described in the above post, sound is a key factor. Surround Sound helps out a lot with zombie groans and foot steps.

Goodies such as armor and health is often found were imps were hiding. Stock up on health from the health stations monitor screens.

When you have demons leaping at you, the damage that can be inflicted can be deflected by shooting at the demon with the plasma gun, or other weapons that "kick". Not that although the chaingun is powerful, it doesn't have much of a "kick" as far as demons are concerned.

If you can't find where to go after you've cleared out an area, look for holes in the floor and walls to duck into.

Ballistic rockets & energy weapons can be shot down. This is useful if they can't be dodged.

It may sound cliche, but don't be over anxious to kill those monsters, but don't be too cautious either. If you just go running into rooms and not even giving a quick glance to the side(s) or behind you, you'll be in for a rude awakening. But don't move at a crawl either. If you're overly worried about a zombie or monster coming out of a dark corner and attacking you, you may miss some of the items such as PDA's, armor, etc..

And keep an eye out for those PDA's, video disks, and other goodies. They are very important and you'll need them for accessing different parts of the compound, and they provide you with information that can come in handy, such as codes to different lockers.

Thanks to Force for this. Very useful so you can use your flashlight and have a gun out at the same time.

That ruins the game. Needing the flashlight is what seperates it from other plain fps'.

I'd have to agree with you. While it may be annoying, it is an intended part of the game and adds to the nervousness. What is more panic-inducing than needing to be defenseless to see dark areas of the game?
