What resolution are you running Doom 3 at? What Catalyst video drivers are you using?
Might consider the Catalyst 4.9 Beta, designed for increased Doom 3 performance. They're working for my 9700 Pro. http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4547.html |

Does this only happen in DOOM III, or does it happen in any other games or applications as well?

i have already tried the 4.9 Beta drivers to no avail (currently using).
im running at 1024x768 but have also tried others. im pretty sure that doom is the only game that it happens to. although the computer froze a couple of times the other day when using my tv tuner |

Your not the only one with this problem I to play doom about 15mins in it freezes and i have to a hard bootup sometimes i play 30mins its just sudden i pretty sure i have all the new drivers and stuff. And im pretty sure my computer can handle itspecs: 3.0c pent 4 1028ram 9800pro. Now that i know it does this i quick save all the time. It is very annoying resarting your computer when your in a good part but its better then not playing at all. If any of you guys know how to fix this prob let me know
Thanks, Adam |

Here's what I would do:
Make sure no programs are running in the background, including anti-virus programs. You can find out by opening the task manager, in xp it's cntrl-alt-del. Make sure you have latest drivers for your sound card, as well. Play around with the Doom video and audio settings to see if that improves performance. --rd |
