BF Problems!!!
I recently built a new computer, and am having a real problem playing some games. Specifically, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 1942, and Medal of Honor.
For example, BF Vietnam will load, you choose a single-player level, which will load, then the computer reboots. It seems like a video problem, but has me a bit puzzled. I have updated video, sound, and motherboard drivers, to no avail. The system is an Athlon XP 2800+ 'Barton' with 512 MB of DDR, and a Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB video card (onboard sound). MB is an Epox KT-400A+. I'm using XP Home with SP2. Has anyone had a similar problem, or have an idea what is going on? Thanks for any help you can give. |

First attempt was a crash to a plain blue screen, no message.
Subsequent attempts, same thing. Drivers are up-to-date. I wonder if it's a program conflict, like Zonealarm or something... Last edited by Outshined; 09-01-2004 at 05:30 PM. |

Which version of directx are you using? If you have the latest drivers, you need to make sure your version of directx is up to date. The way to check is by opening the run prompt by holding the windows key and the "r" button at the same time. At that point, you will type in "dxdiag" Down at the bottom of the directx diagnostic tool that will come up, you will see the directx version. You will want the latest version for your latest drivers. 9.0c
After you check this, let us know what you find. Direct X can be found here. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I'm using the latest version of directX, 9.0c, and have the newest chipset drivers the board manufacturer has posted.
This is driving me nuts. |

It's playing BF1942 and Medal of Honor just fine, but crashes on BF Vietnam and Call of Duty.
I also tried booting up to my second HD with 98SE on it. Same thing, which makes me think it's a hardware issue. |
