Okay so I picked up COD last year installed it and ran with it no problem.
Later I purched another ACIVISION game, DOOM 3. After installation I put in the CD in order to play (why do game companies insist on this still anyway...) I then get a message that DOOM 3 cant run because it detected (LEGAL) emulation software. So I had to get a no CD- Crack to play a game I had purchased. So here I sit searching for yet another ACTIVISION NO CD-CRACK for a game I purchased today. The Call Of Duty Expansion pack. Well I had enough. Activision can kiss my *** from here on out. This is the last ACIVISION game I purchase. BUT not the last that I play. Edit: Admin edit for language >>

Ummm, besides this post being kind of inappropriate, I beleive it goes in the 'General Discussion' forum. IMHO, I would watch your language, or else get in trouble with the 'mods. Besides, we want to keep these forums clean for the young'ins.

I would contact Activision and see what they have to say. I'm sure they will be getting a lot of complaints and maybe they will change it in a future patch. I think it is just crap for them to do that. Not too long ago I installed Daemon so I don't have to use the CD's. Something I find very annoying and useless. Not only is it inconvenient, but it wears out your CD's. My MOH:AA disc 1 is almost unreadable because of normal use. I always put CD's in the case but they inevitably get scratched.

Had that problem with doom3, it was because i had cloneCD installed. Weirdest thing is it didint say a thing about daemon tools.

Well I finally caved in and uninstalled (a purchased copy) cloneCD. And both Doom 3 and COD:OU works fine.
It makes me mad that game publishers are dictating to people who support them via purchasing thier products, what we should have installed on our computer. Appearently CloneCD has been outlawed in the U.S. I didn't know that nor do I care because I live in Canada and the cloneCD ban does not apply here. So Activision should remove the "EVIL EMULATION CHECKER". Last edited by Fibre Optix; 09-19-2004 at 01:04 PM. |

I feel your pain, man, but watch the language. I had a similar thing happen with Doom 3 and it made me mad as hell to have to uninstall CLoneCD to get the game to run.
Watch the language, but rant all you want, maybe someone will know the fix you need. |
