Rome: Total War demo
I have to say, this game looked really cool when I first saw it advertised, and after playing the demo I'm kind of disappointed.
The gameplay seems very deep and well-thought out, and it's pretty easy to navigate the interface and learn the controls. My only gripes have to do with the graphics. Model detail and animation seems okay, but terrain detail is severely lacking. Vegetation (grass, trees, etc...) is very sparse and not very good-looking. Also, there are no footprints or splashes in water as your troops move through the terrain. Also, the edges of models look very rough and aliased, even when I had AA at the "highest" setting (it didn't have a number.) Does anyone know if this demo is a graphically stripped down version of the game? I think I am going to wait until more people have played it before I buy it.
