Hi,
I'm pretty much new to this gaming stuff. I'm having problems playing my Oni demo. The sound is fine, the short movie clip before the actual game starts runs well. The problem starts when the game begin, it runs really slow like a 4-5 seconds delay. I guess I have a older model computer, it has a celeron processor...64MB memory and ATI Rage Pro Turbo 3D card. How can I fix this problem? Do I need more memory? How about another 3D card? Someone please enlighten me!!! Thanks |

How many programs do you have running when you start the game? I leave only my mouse software, systray, and explorer running while in game, all those programs running in the background suck up RAM and cpu cycles, and at 64 megs you need all the RAM you can muster.
Also, keep Direct X up to date. Although a rarity with other Microsoft products, the newest Direct X version usually guarantees the best speed software-wise .http://www.microsoft.com/directx Xayd |

64MB is the minimum amout of RAM you should have for a basic Windows system. If you want to play 3D games then 128MB should be the minimum. As for your video card, well lets just say it does 2D well. The ATI Rage series of cards are not known for their 3D performance. A newer video card would support more games and features as well as increase performance. Do you know if you have an AGP slot? If you do have an AGP slot, the I would reccomend a 32MB Radeon or a 32MB GeForce2 MX card. If you have to use a PCI slot, then you should probably use a PCI GeForce card. These two things should help imporve your performance quite a bit.
