Last I heard about it was a couple days ago, and it was said that HL2 was in the final stages before going gold (last minute bug fixes, and the like).

It's been submitted to get a rating in Europe, I guess it already has a ESRB here in the US.
Last I heard it was on RC5 PcGamer US gave it a 98% (and with all things being equal with it and Gamespot, Gamespot gave the same score to Goldeneye for the N64, and that game rocked)
