I had that exact same problem, except instead of black it was gray. I increased my resolution to take care of that problem. I have no idea why that helped, but it did.

I had a problem with Farcry. It was related to my graphics card and a bug they had with it. I downloaded patch sorted all my problems out. I saw mostly shades of white and grey.
Visit the Ubisoft Solution Center and download it. it is a big file though but it is supposed to fix other things... I reckon it made things a lot better overall, even graphics and speed wise too: Hope it helps Ubisoft patch info & download **26.5MB** (but worth it!) If v1.1 doesn't fix it with the most up to date chipset and video drivers than there isn't much else you can do b/c Far Cry is one buggy game. Good Luck.

Have patch 1.1, before was using GF2ti, then upgraded to gf6. The problem is when I press auto detect, the video settings are all low, I am not sure agf6 will get low results. Can uninstall and reinstall without affecting the save game?

Should be fine. I would save the save game folder elsewhere just in case.
With my 6800GT I play everything maxed at 1600x1200 0aa 8af |

I am reinstalling the game, hope its ok this time. I got a critical error message after finishing the carrier stage, then the problem started. Installing everything with the patch now.
How long will it take to finish this game? I am now at this fort, to take out this sattelite dish. I sneaked in, did not bother to kill the guards at the pier. Also I did not take the sniper rifel. Is it important? |

LoL, you can beat the game in so many ways that if you don't take the sniper rifle you can still play just fine. If not, someone will drop another one in the future.
As far as the game goes, your not even close to bein done. You're still in the beginning. This isn't one of those short games

I am at this mercenary camp now, meeting this guy who has been contacting on the phone. I prefer killing guys with the knife, I find it very effective for lots of guards in as small area. Something like MGS, in fact a lot like MGS. I understand the game is challenging, I don't understand the AI which could not even see me when I'm directly in front of them. Sometimes they should at walls, or objects non stop. Also, there are ways to bypass certain fights, like I did not face some encounter with the mercenaries coming down the plane/helicopter, which looks like a harrier.

yeah there are some bugs in the scripting of the AI in the game. its just some of the problems with games these days when you have more advanced mapping and such. i hope they rerelease version 1.2 with fixes for the ATI cards.

How to kill that thing? one normal shot to the head using the semi auto pistol?
Multiple shots with the M4? or sniper? Maybe I will try the knife

I think this is a normal trigen, it's just a close shot.
