Well, considering there is a 64-bit game in the list (that isn't even out) I'd say a 64-bit compatible processor. And to run most of those, and look pretty, you'll need a GeF6.

Without a doubt, Doom3. It even surpasses Far Cry.

Doom 3. Compared to it, HL2 runs like a breeze on my PC.

Doom3 is about the hardest on my system, FarCry puts a little load on high settings, HL2 is moderate, but Halo was a cakewalk.

That's because ATI specializes on Direct3D games - nVIdia is ahead on OpenGL based software. I say Half Life 2, though, because even though it is less sys resource requiring, it, IMHO, has more visible texture to it than games like Doom 3.

My computer in my signature could barely run that in an 800x600 resolution with med settings. HL2 runs fine at 1600x1200 with anit-aliasing i belive at highest setting. Not sure aobut that tho

Doom3, FarCry, Halo, Painkiller, CS:S, HL2

I have slight lag with halo when in areas with a large number of enemies, and that's with most all of the settings cranked up. Same thing with painkiller. If there are lots of enemies and particle effects, I get some lag.

Surprisingly, HL2 seems to put the least amount of stress on my system. Of course, loading time is murder, though.

HL2 seems to be a very robust game in that it can run on basically any hardware pretty flawlessly. the engine is great a decent FPS (40+) are very attainable by mid range hardware. farcry seems to be a little more CPU dependent then the other games though.

I voted Everquest 2. Iv heard crazy things about this game how much it takes out of your comp. Friends say its far worse than doom 3. Have not tried out EQ2 myself but i just heard tons about what it takes to run even.

EQ2 the game was built so that it would not run will all graphics at max settings at current technology. They thought ahead knowing that technology will get better and the game will look just as good when technology catches up with it. Also it uses like 800mb of ram just to run the game without major stuttering in populated zones.

EQ2 is monster on demand. My system with everything off is choppy. Add a 6600GT and get the same results. Trying more RAM next.

I wouldn't consider Rome Total War right at the bottom, i mean there is a lot of deatail and it takes a lot to render so many units seperately.

I still say 64-bit FarCry... you need a special processor (64-bit) and you need a 6800 Ultra because it's FarCry!

DooM 3

DooM 3 uses almost all dynamic lighting while HL2 and other games use mostly static lighting.

Doom 3 - I was reading about the reason it's so dark is because of the dynamic lighting. The lighting system is so hardware intensive they can only have a couple dynamic lights in any one area with today's hardware. I guess they chose a good dynamic lighting system that can't even be used to it's full potential, over a crappy static lighting system.

Doom3 runs alot smoother on my system than HL2. It almost never lags while when i play HL2 if there is alot of action it starts to slow down quite bit, even more than doom3 on ultra setting.

Ive played half of thoses games and Doom3 was the worst on my system, Rome Total War in the end when I had huge armies attacking was pretty choppy at times too.
