Ah, man.... I think you just made me spend $50! Those shots are freakin' nice!

I just watched some HL2 action on TechTV, and I think it's gong to put DooM 3 to shame (sad to say for us DooM lovers)

I might reconsider my and my friends buying a cheap microwave at the weekend and get HL2 instead. But I don't think it has quite as good light shows. Those shots look brilliant. Wonder what they will look like on my 9800 pro though.

Well, thanks a lot Dragon, thanks so much. Thanks for making me go out in the British weather in the dark to pick up a copy . Lol, jk, lets get it installed and see what I think. Going to have to format the rest of the drive I was saving for some MCSA stuff though .

Looks like you already bought it ric, but for anyone else, buying it through Steam is supposed to be a better deal. You get more in the top (gold?) package on Steam plus you can back up the downloaded files pretty easy to a DVD/CD and you will never need to have the CD in the drive to play the game like retail versions do.

I was hopin' more ppl would post pics that they have taken in the game. I guess everyone is having fun playing it and not worrying about taking pictures, lol.

I'm actually waiting for the Steam issues to die down and for benchmarks and some HL2 problems to be fixed before I buy it. I just found these pics from other members in other forums and decided to let everyone else here SEE what they are possibly missing.

Anyone else have more pics? I could find some more if ppl want me to.

Just finished playing it, what a game! Better than Doom 3 in my opinion, since I can actually see things . I'm going to bed now, so if there aren't any screenshots than I'll get some. Playing it at low settings though, 800X600 with bilinear filtering. I may have a 2.8GHz P4, but I'm still being held back by 256MB of memory and a TI4200 .

Hey, how are you taking the HL2 screenshots? I know that in Doom3 and Painkiller you just hit F12 to take screenshots and they get saved in a folder but I tried that in HL2 and it didn't seem to work. I'm playing in 1024x768 on an ATI X800XT PE so I'm dying to show off some shots...

Hit F5 in-game to take screenshots.

I'm not going to argue which is better, but I can tell you one thing FOR SURE!! That representation of Farcry in the comparison with Doom3 and HL2 is way off. I have played Farcry on my little Athlon XP 2800+ with 512MB and a 256MB 9600 and it is WAY better than that.

Looks like someone is trying to make HL2 look far superior to Farcry, when in fact they are visually pretty close (and the culprit isn't very savy with Photoshop either).

But, all said and done, those screenshots are pretty darn impressive!!!!

Dude, are you smoking the crack or shooting it up? If you think that Far Cry looks better than HL2 then you either have terrible eyesight or prefer fake looking, animated cartoon style graphics over realistic looking ones.

No no, those aren't my screens. Those are screens from other ppl that I consolidated into this thread. So the specs of my comp have nothing to do with them, and hence why I answered his question that way. And for clarification, I don't own/have HL2.
