What games play well in Windows 2000. I built a guy a computer with a 1Ghz Athlon and put Windows 2000 on it. His main complaint with his old computer that it crashed all the time. I told him that he had two options to go with Windows 2000 and forsake some games or Windows 98 and risk crashing. I started to load both OS's and let him use 98 for games. But I thought of the support problems there and I never could get 98 to run stable.

He is kind of complaining because he can't play Command and Conquer. Anyone ever played Tiberian Sun on 2000?

I haven't tried it, but look for Win2000 patches for the games in question on the game company's website.

The only games I haven't been able to get to work are old DOS mode games. I've got Rune, Unreal Tournament, Unreal, Soldier of Fortune, Deus Ex, Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, Warcraft II, Asheron's Call, Delta Force, and Half Life at last count. All work in Win2k SP1, some of the older ones required patches to work, but none required anything more than that.

Thanks, sp1 is already applied. I know that games will work better than in NT.

Yes, I think I had installed but that was on 98 and it runs fine. I have installed and played Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 on Win2k and had sound problems, that who would would have guessed I didn't have in win98. What exact problem is he having with his game? What kind of videocard and drivers is he using? HTH

There really isn't an exact problem. He tried to install it and it asked for his sound card. That tells me it is a pretty old game. I am going to try and convince him to get Tiberian Sun. The game that he has is Command and Conquer.

Oh ok, sorry just reread your post, and he can't play the original C&C, I thought you were referring to Tiberian Sun.... That's a fairly older game and I wouldn't really be surprised if it didn't work. I had Command and Conquer Red Alert and had trouble getting that to to work on a faster computer and win98 back then. I know C&C Red Alert 2, works fine in 98, I would be willing to bet Tiberian would work too.
