HalfLife 2 Demo?

Does anyone know if there will be a demo for HL2? I want to make sure it palys well on my rig before I buy it. I had to turn off a lot of goodies to get Doom 3 to run well on my box.

Yes, I would like to know also if there is going to be a demo for Half-Life 2. However, I heard a rumor somewhere that VALVe is not going to release one.

Any ideas???

That would be nice but the game is huge ! The demo would just disappoint people with its short length if it was only 500MB : ( not alot can be packed in

I doubt it'll be released any time soon. Half Life 2, for one, just came out. Doom 3 even took weeks to release its demo.

The game is about 2Gigs. They could pack a lot of fun into a 500Mb demo. I am not sure, however, if/when they will release one. I say this because the game is on steam, and so it seems to download the demo you would at least need steam.
