HL2 files cannot be defragged

I've heard some reports of ppl not being able to defrag their HL2 install.
Specifically saying that \program files\valve\steam\steamapps\ cannot be defragged.

Reports of ppl trying have either not worked successfully, game is still seriously fragmented, or have made things worse, the game will not start anymore.

This was from within Safe Mode.

Has anyone defragged their HL2 install yet? I'm hoping that this isn't widespread and is just a case with a few people. Please report your findings, thanks.

Same here, it plays fine after a defrag.
