Call of Duty Auto Downloading
I noticed that with the last COD update (v1.4) it now downloads maps automatically if you join a server and don't have the map that it's running. That's all fine and dandy except that isn't the only thing it downloads. My installation was rendered virtually inopperable because when I join servers it downloads whatever mods the server has. I found 40 extra files in the COD/Main folder that I did not put there. I don't think the auto download feature is a good idea. It seems like a great way to spread viruses too. Luckily I was able to fix mine by comparing the files to the "clean" version on my other PC and deleting all the mods that messed it up. I couldn't get past spectator mode the way it was. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

yea it is was a real pain, took forever to join servers that i had to download mods for
but i fixed that by disabling downloading in the multiplayer options |

the reason maps auto download is they put in extra skins and stuff in there map files. its a pain, like to get rid of some of those maps on my server but they are to good. the best way to overcome this is to turn auto dl off. i try to try out all mods before i put them on my server's. some can do a real good job of messing up your computer. your welcome on my server anytime. we mostly play deathmatch

That's why I try to find some quality servers and and ass them to my favs as I go.
EXAMPLE: |LP| Lost patrol. Excellent server.. no DM nor TDM. I hate those MP modes anyway. I prefer team based objectives. But inregards to the Virus issue. Does'nt it only download PK3 files? Can those execute viruses?

Thanks I'll give that a try. What is an "unpure" server anyway.
 EDIT: I found your server and added it to my favorites. I still want to know what unpure means though.

pure server: wont let you use extra files you might stick in
unpure server: will let you use extra files you might stick in like new skins, new sounds gore ect. |

How many maps are on your server anyway? I noticed there were some people in there so I joined and it has been downloading stuff for a hour and a half now. Things just keep coming one after another like it will never end. It won't go over 13 KB/s either.

A good server I found to play on is the Gameservers.net COD BEL server.
Set the filtering to BEL for the gametype and ISDN for the connection and only about 4 come up on the list so you cant miss it. Incidentally if you fancy coming online to shoot me, my handle on there is DJ-NEWBIE How many people have noticed people seeming to get unrealistically high scores really fast, I looked into this and found quite a few people cheat using AIMBOT  , thankfully they get kicked rather quickly.

Don't know if anyone is reading this but I am having problems with my auto download. It has stopped working. It is enabled from the opions but still no download.

Oh, Dont hurredly install the 1.5 patch yet est. if you play of 'Behind Enemy Lines' games as there's only 2 servers running support for it as of two days ago, so instead of a choice of 30odd servers to play on you will only get a few.

That's exactly what I did yesterday. I installed v1.5 and now most of the servers are empty.
