Synopsis of Half-Life???

I am currently in the middle of HL2, which I believe is the best FPS for PC that I have played. The details and realism are astounding, and I'm looking forward to the replay value.

One thing I'm missing out on is the fact that I never completed Half-Life. At the time it was out, the computer of the house was probably less than equivolent to my current my microwave. I actually purchased HL for like 5 bucks a few weeks ago, but I couldn't go from playing FarCry to HL. I quickly got bored with HL, and thus have no idea what they are talking about! Could someone give me a quick rundown of HL, without including any spoilers for HL2???

Actualy the replay value is'nt that great. But I'm sure the Mods will be a lot of fun.

Quick break down.

Your Gordon Freeman, a scientist. Gordon is obsesed with the theory of teleportaion ever since his MIT days. He works at a government research facility called Black Mesa, it's like Area 51. One day they were doing experiments with this huge tele port thing, but naturaly something went wrong. It caused a rift and thousands of Aliens came flying though the portal. A bunch of government soldiers are sent in to kill everyone (scientists and aliens) to cover up the mess. Gordon gets free of the base. In the end, on a train a figure called the G-Man offers Gordon a choice. Work for me or die.

an xxx Amount of years later Gordon is awoken by the G-man and told that his services are needed again. Gordon awakes on a train in city 17. The world is under control by aliens (the combine). The middle man or the man who is chosen to represent earth is the former administrator of Black Mesa .... I forget his name. He's the guy on the big screens in HL2 and says "Welcome to city 17".

And thus HL2 begins....
