Game Crashes

Hi all,

Ive got a problem playing any game made by EA Games, any other works fine.

The game starts up fine but seems to freeze or at least proceed very very slowly but wont get past the EA Games logo during the opening of the game.

Like I say all other games work fine and I used to be able to play the EA Games previous to my pc upgrade.

Im running

Asus A7N8X-X motherboard
AMD 3ghz Sempron processor
1gb pc3200 ram
FX5600XT 256mb gfx card

Ive updated all the drivers but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated as I really am stuck as to what to do.

Thanks

Chris

What O/S?

Have you tried updating DirectX? 9.0c is the most recent version.

It runs at 2GHz

Was this a recent problem, or did it just start?

Did you add any new hardware or software recently?

XP SP1 or SP2?

Its Xp SP1

It started straight after I installed my new hardware (motherboard, processor & ram) and formated and reloaded XP.

I have the same software as I had before the new stuff.

Any EA Game doesnt work i.e C&C Series, Sims Series, Battlefield Series etc.

I have had similar problems when I tried to load the Sims on the computer for my wife. I ended up going to EA's website and looking thru their FAQ's to figure out what the problem was. I would try that and see if there are other people having that same issue. They may have a patch available for you to download.

SP2 is a BIG ISSUE!

Usually SP2 has been known to screw things up, try removing SP2 and then try the game.

He is running SP1, so that's not an issue here.

Try what scomac suggested.
