Half life and Half life 2 console

When you get to the console how do you enter your cheat codes?? I have typed them is and nothing. I love the games and want to explore different items within the game.

Agreed!!! I finished the game, I've only used the console to see it in a third person perspective afterwards.

Yep finished the game on easy and normal, now playing on hard. Man!!!! You have to play it this way. I was using the cheats to just putz around a bit.
