Um, why can't I play HL2 now???
Okay, I was playing HL2 fine about two hours ago. I exited and left to go eat and watch the Simpsons, then I come back and I can't open HL2. Now, when I came back and opened Steam, it said it was updating HL2. Then I also downloaded HL: DM and Codename Gordon. Would these have anything to do with not being able to play HL2? When I click on play HL2 in the Steam menu, the cdrom kicks up and it seems like it'll start, but it doesn't. I've rebooted then tried again, and nothing. Ideas???
EDIT: Also, I can play Codename Gordon, but not HL2, CS: Source or HL: DM. Last edited by roomwithamoose; 12-01-2004 at 02:40 AM. |

Try re-validating your HL2 files.
Start --> Run --> steam://validate/320 If your running a Pirated version then I guess you were banned.

Nevermind, it works now. I didn't do anything, just woke up at tried, and it started fine. I think it was Steam, is it really as stable as they say it is??
Thanks for the suggestion anyway Fibre Optix. I only get retail games, I'm not a pirate, so I don't have to worry about being banned! |

Steam's servers have been overloaded with the release of HL2 DM.
