HL2DM EXTREEME LAG... no matter on Lat or settings.

Well I treid it and this has to be the laggiest Deathmatch I have ever played. I lowered my settings and it got worse.

Quite puzzled as to why, CS:Source and HL2 run flawless with all settings on high, but HL2DM, lag... lag lag. I went to the top 22 servers with a Latency of 23 to 67.... every single one was EXTREEMELY LAGGY.

hmm... pretty sure it's the level of interactiveness. think about it, almost every piece of the background can be picked up by the gravgun. that must put a huge strain on the server to process each person interacting with it. i have been experiecing problems like that too. i hope valve makes a follow up patch to optimize the physics for online play.

The server I was playing on last night was horrible. Very erratic ping times, up to 1000ms.

i don't know about ping times that bad.... it is playable for me, just looks pretty choppy compared to HL2 and CS Source.

Wolfie, I popped on there briefly and the server was reporting 70-90 latency, however no one else was on the server. I'll try a lil later though.

Well Wolfie, I've dropped in 6 or 7 times the last few days and not a soul on the server but the latency has been steady.

Even with low pings (20-80) I experience some bad lag. Not just on one server, but all.

Yes, the problem is with the interactive nature of the game. With one player, it's not bad at all. But when you get 5-12 people exploding, pulling, throwing and shifting things around, it gets nasty. I don't think the physics engine was made to be manipulated by more than one player at a time.
